Bodrum, Turkey’s St Tropez
Known as the ‘St Tropez’ of Turkey, Bodrum on the Aegean coast is an area of astounding natural beauty combining famous landmarks like Bodrum Castle and the Mausoleum of Halikarnassus, one of the seven wonders of the Ancient World. It is one of Turkey’s key tourist centres attracting both wealthy Turks and international tourists. Its position on the Bodrum Peninsula means that it is surrounded by many smaller coastal towns and villages. Bodrum simply buzzes with a thriving entertainment scene, which includes many restaurants, shops, nightlife and a superb yacht marina. However it can still offer those in search of peace and quiet seclusion and tranquility.
Kusadasi, Jewel of the Aegean
Kusadasi is a popular coastal resort and port on the Aegean Sea particularly with visitors from Northern and Western Europe. Many people arrive here via the port on their way to the historic site of Ephesus. The town is home to a permanent population of around 50,000 people. It is a truly scenic area with some beautiful old properties on the waterfront, many of which have been converted into cafes and bars giving the town a modern cosmopolitan European feel. The hilly are towards the outskirts of the town has been built up with luxury hotels and apartment blocks, many belonging to wealthy yacht owners who regularly use the port facilities.
Antalya, Capital of Tourism
The largest city on the Turkish Riviera with a permanent population of over 775,000, Antalya is located on the Mediterranean Sea in south western Turkey. Its idyllic location on a cliff overlooking the sea has attracted many foreign visitors transforming it into a leading international resort. On top of its beautiful beaches, there are a wealth of interesting sites most of which are located in the old town with its narrow winding streets lined with houses and historical buildings step in ancient architecture.
The Picturesque Town of Kas
The beautiful town of Kas is located at the south coast of Turkey. What was once a quite fishing village has now become a popular, yet unspoiled tourist town with its turquoise sea and stunning white beaches. Kas is an attractive destination for tourists wanting to escape the over-built and over-touristy areas and holiday in relaxation. The reason for its quietness is mainly down to the long journey from the two major airports in the Mediterranean region; Kas is a two hour drive from Fethiye and a three hour drive from Antalya.
